Conquering Tuberculosis and Pneumonia using Non-Pharmaceutical Techniques Return to Homepage

One of the best things about living in 2013, is we now have the resources available to make your body look the way it did when you were in your youth peak state such as the people below as well as many others are starting to show us. One of the key things to remember is that if your body is fighting a cold or flu, is to stop taking anti-aging herbs until you are better, because your immune system is readjusting to the new situation. It is best to take lots of fluids and raise your body temperature such as spending time in a sauna or jazuzzi to burn out the virus. This page goes into more detail about this.

Pneumonia occurs when the lungs become severely inflamed due to highly toxic tasks as they try to eliminate themselves through the respiratory system.  This than results in an infection of pathogenic bacteria.  This builds up over the long term from drinking pasteurized milk, starches that are unrefined and the consumption of sugary foods.  If this diet is consumed over a long period of time and the seasonal weather conditions are right, and the person is under emotional stress, the immune system weakens, and if the person is suffering from a cold or severe flu, pneumonia starts to set in.

Dr. J.H. Tilden of Denver, Colorado, never lost a pneumonia patient. He never used drugs or surgery and he is on record of curing thousands of people with this simple diet and exercise:

Daily fasting, along with colonic irrigations (colema Colonics, not an Enema), combined with nutritional therapy and a diet of raw foods high in natural enzymes. Water fasting has also helped to shorten recovery of winter bronchitis.

Fasting within the first 14 to 48 hours is the most effective. If you are too weak to fast, a colonic irrigation, along with proper nutrition should be performed.

According to Joseph E. Pizzorno, N.D., President Emeritus of Bastyr University, a vegetarian diet significantly improves the symptoms of respiratory conditions, especially pneumonia. This is a diet that eliminates all animal products, as well as fish, eggs, milk, and all other dairy products.

Nutrient rich foods high in  vitamin A, beta carotene, vitamin C, bioflavonoids, pine tree bark, and zinc, all help improve immune function and destroy infection. It is also a good idea to take Proteolytic enzymes taken between meals.  Also acidophilus supplements, can also be of benefit. Other foods include betaine HCL, bee pollen, quercetin, manganese, N-acetylcysteine (NAC), and selenium. A good combination is Plain Organic Yogurt with N-acetylcysteine (NAC) mixed in with it and honey to sweeten the taste.

If you are taking antibiotics, be sure to boost your intake of probiotics, such as acidophilus, which you can find plenty of in yogurt. Probiotic increase should occur for 3 weeks following a course of antibiotics. This is because antibiotics destroy intestinal flora that is weakened when taking antibiotics.

If you feel the flu coming on or are fighting a bad cold, one of the better combinations I have come across is chicken vegetable pasta soup along with chocolate.  This not only gives you strength, but can cut the amount of suffering from the flu by up to 1/3rd, allowing you to recover up to 3 times faster.

Elderberry is another powerful flu fighter.

Recommended Foods while fighting off Pneumonia include:

Horseradish and Lemon Juice - Relieves Mucus Build up

Carrot, Celery and Radish Juice - Dissolves Mucus.  Detoxes and restores Immunity to the Body.

Carrot and Spinach Juice - Detoxes and Restores the Bowels.

Other helpful foods include: Cranberry, Raw Garlic, Lemon Puree and Molasses.

Many of these foods consume very little energy in the digestive tract.  This allows the enzymes of the stomach to boost the immune system .

You can even do your own Colonics with a  Colema Board, endorsed by V.E Irons, Dr. Bernard Jensen, Dr. Walker, and most every colonic specialist around the world

Chinese Herbs that Heal or Repel the Cold Virus Naturally

The Yin Chiao combination (created in 1798 and still very popular) is one of the most sucessfull herbal combinations to naturally remove a cold, especially when it is in its early stages:  The combination consists of:  honeysuckle, forsythia, balloon flower, peppermint, edible burdock, crested grass, schizonepeta, fermented soybean, and Chinese licorice root. Yin Chiao can also be bought at numerous health food stores and online.

If you feel a cold starting in your nose, take Gan Mao Ling. This combination consists of:
Ilex Root (Ilex Radix) Gang Mei Gen, Evodia Leaf (Evodiae Folium) San Cha Ku, Vitex Leaf (Viticis Folium) Huang Jing Cao, Chrysanthemum Flower (Chrysanthemum Flos) Ju Hua, Woad Root (Isatidis Radix) Ban Lan Gen, Honeysuckle Flower (Lonicerae Flos) Jin Yin Hua, Mint Leaf (Menthae Herba) Bo He.

To relieve colds which are too far developed to stop, or to relieve colds that begin with body aches, fever, and chills, I believe the best remedy for advanced stages of a cold is Zong Gan Ling which contains: kudzu root, hairy holly root, vervain, woad root, wormwood, gypsum, and notopterygi.

Gan Mao Ling can be combined with Yin Chiao at the early stage of a cold or with Zong Gan Ling for added relief of symptoms at any stage.

For cold prevention the formula called Yu Ping Feng San, also called Jade Windscreen or Jade Shield works well.  It has also had success treating pneumonia during clinical trials. This formula consists of the following herbs:

Astragali Radix

Additional Chinese Cold and Flu Remedies

Asafoetida (also called Hing) - Asafoetida was used in 1918 to fight the Spanish influenza. It is also an excellent herb for healing the heart and rebuilding upper body strength and muscle. Asafoetida combines well with Ginger, Astralaglus, Cardamom, Triphala, Haritaki  and Calamus.
Chinese Cold and Flu herbs
Chrysanthemum- An antimicrobial
Honeysuckle - Anti Microbiobal
Basil Leaf - Removes Mucus, Rebalances the Immune System
Cinnamon Bark - Reduces Fever and Inflammation
Gokshura - For healing sore throats
Kalmegh - Heals Upper respiratory Infections.   This herb combines well with Echinacea, Lemon Balm, Slippery Elm, Cinnamon Bark and Fritillaria imperialis (Crown imperial or Kaiser's crown).  Take 15 grams a day.
Guduchi. Use up to 20 grams a day.
A combination of Dry Ginger, Cinnamon, Basil, Peppermint and Lemongrass also helps rebalance the immune system.

For those of you who have contracted Stomach Flu, a stomach ache, or a very bad bladder infection, a combination of Honey, Cinnamon and Organic Craberry Juice works excellent. The not from concentrate Cranberry Juice is stronger and more concentrated.

Ayurvedic healing uses the follwing combinations to cure pneumonia naturally:

Sesame seeds and flax seeds.  These also boost the immune system. Taking them in yogurt is a great way to keep the immune system strong during winter.
Fenugreek and Garlic.  This combination works well to keep away negative bacteria.

Even though proper nutrition may keep our physical body looking young, which wards off heart disease, stroke and many other "mechanical" problems that accompany an aging body, the biggest hurdle to overcome is bacteria, the powerful tiny microbes that "rust" and swarm our immune system, sometimes in greater numbers than usual, especially during flu season and the last 3 perigee full super moons, which my book Solar Flares and their Effect Upon Behavior and Human Health. A bacterial infection is what Mr. Jack Lamelle succumbed to.  Even though he was towing boats underwater in his 60's and was able to ward off heart disease and stroke due to proper nutrition, the main "bug" that killed him was bad bacteria which eventually turned into full blown pneumonia of which he never fully recovered.

It's a fact, the most active and hard trained athletes also suffer from the weakest immune systems. Because the harder you train, the more inflammation occurs in the body, which in turn means your immune system becomes weakened because your body is fighting inflammation which is recovering from excessive exercise. In my book Living Healthy Beyond 120, A Centurion's Plan for Longevity I show that the enzyme Bromelin is used to help recover from excessive exercise. It is interesting to note that when the enzyme Bromelin is combined with the enzyme Trypsin and the antibiotics penicillin or amoxicillin or erythromycin or penicillin it cures urinary tract infections 100% of the time. The best ratio to use is 1 part Bromelain and Trypsin to 1 part of the antibiotics shown above. This works because Bromelin has been shown to help the body recover from exercise extremely fast due to its ability to quickly heal inflammation and the penicillin is a synergist of Bromelin.

In a study of people with urinary tract infections,100% of participants given antibiotics in combination with bromelain and another enzyme called trypsin were cured of their infection, compared with just 46% who received antibiotics alone.

The enzymes Bromelin and Trypsin are both found in foods and are enzymes that help our stomachs digest food. In my book Living Beyond 120, A Centurions Guide to Longivity  I not only include the best natural sources for the enzymes Bromelin and Trypsin, but give some of the best herbs and foods to ward off bad bacteria and fight upper respiratory infections.

Glucose and the Immune System

I have noticed that during colder weather, especially the flu season, if I get wet outdoors and mild hypothermia sets in, my appetite for foods high in glucose increases greatly. During this time I will eat more raisins with Pumpkin Seeds (which are very high in glucose) than usual. Raisins just happen to be one of the foods highest in fruit glucose, and scientific research has shown that glucose stimulates immune cell function. Pumpkin Seeds and Raisins are both alkaline forming in the body, and we know that acidic conditions in the body harbor disease.

"Activation of immune cells is associated with increased glucose utilization and this is facilitated, in part, by increased expression of glucose transporters."
Source: U.S. National Library of Medicine

So my body was actually really craving glucose. I would also get cravings for honey, which also just happens to have a high glucose content.

Foods highest in Glucose from highest to lowest are: Squash, Oranges, Molasses, and Tangerines. Many of these foods have been shown to boost the immune system.
Source: Nutrition

I believe that my appetite increase is because my body is craving more glucose to boost my immune system. This increased consumption of glucose from foods (NOT THE ARTIFICAL POWDER GLUCOSE THAT YOU CAN BUY) is the best way to consume lots of glucose safely without raising your blood sugar levels.  I than perform mild exercise, which also bosots the immune system. This gives my immune system the fuel to burn away the flu virus as well as mild effects from hypothermia. I have always recovered using this technique when I have been accidently covered in cold water during wintertime in snowy wintering conditions.

Another bad bacterial virus affecting both people and animals is the virus - Tuberculosis, which kills over 1.5 million people and animals each year. Tuberculosis is an infection of the upper respiratory area. Many antibiotic drugs are starting ti become resistant to the Tuberculosis bacteria, however there are plenty of herbs that can be used to help prevent and treat Tuberculosis. In one case the herb Umckaloabo or its extract has an almost proven 100% recovery rate and in many cases the herbs that fight Tuberculosis also help fight pneumonia. Here are the very best herbs that help treat and prevent Tuberculosis starting with the most powerful 3:

1- Mullein - Used to help heal Tuberculosis, Tonsillitis, pneumonia and other upper respiratory infections. Mullein synergies with garlic, meaning putting these two together makes a powerful combination.

2 - Umckaloabo - One of the best known natural cures for Tuberculosis and other upper respiratory infections. A combination of 2 parts Umckaloabo to 1 part Mullein and a touch of Garlic makes a powerful TB preventative.

3 - The herb Elecampane has been used in the treatment of tuberculosis. The bitter texture makes it useful also to stimulate digestion and appetite. Once again as mentioned earlier, this herb assists with digestion, just as the enzymes Bromelin and Trypsin help digest food.

Other natural herbal remedies for Tuberculosis and pneumonia prevention include:

Raw Cabbage. The dark red cabbage is best because it contains more nutrients. Raw cabbage happens to be one of the foods highest in prebiotics, which also helps digest food.
Cabbage Juice has been used to help cure pneumonia and when carrot juice has been added has been a powerful Tuberculosis cure.

Intestinal Parasites and Disease

Dr. Budwig believes that intestinal parasites cause cancer. It already occurs in animals

"In more severe cases, roundworms can cause pneumonia, as they migrate through the lungs and can cause coughing,"
Source: Petshed

Does this mean that foods that remove parasites from the body also can remove bugs that cause the flu?

One of the most effective foods that removes intestinal parasites is pumpkin seeds. Pumpkin seeds as well as black walnut boots the immune system and has been shown to heal pneumonia.

The real key here is that low levels of zinc have been associated with pneumonia.

"A study of the Tufts University scientists in the United States of America to the low level of zinc is associated with elevated risk of contracting pneumonia."

Pumpkin seeds and Watermelon seeds are naturally high in zinc.

The following herbs and foods have natural antifungal, antiparsitic, antibacterial properties: black walnut hulls, wormwood, clove, raw pumpkin seeds, onion, vitamin c, fennel, thyme, sage, goldenseal, oregano, water and salt.

The following essential oils have anti-fungal, antiparsitic and antibacterial properties:cinnamon, lemongrass, thyme, peppermint, lavender, coriander; olive leaf extracts. I know for a fact that when I would perform the Emerald Tablets exercise during periods of high bacterial activity, such as condition red periods, I would breathe in diluted Lemongrass oil and never get a depleted immune system.

Herbs include: turmeric, echinacea, licorice root, Pau d'arco, rosemary, basil, mint, anise and dandelion.

Spices include: onion, allspice, tarragon, cumin.

Other foods include: capsicums, including chilies and other hot peppers; black and white pepper, ginger, honey, garlic, anise seed, celery seed, and the juices of lemons and limes; cranberries, myrrh.

So by having eating foods that are anti-fungal, antiparsitic and antibacterial we can drastically reduce the chance of contracting a serious respiratory infection such as pneumonia.

As mentioned earlier, and I am including it again because it is such a powerful combination is when the pineapple enzyme Bromelain is mixed with the enzyme trypsin and the following: Amoxicillin or erythromycin or penicillamine or penicillin, it cures urinary tract infections 100% of the time.

Raw or powdered Garlic - Helps prevent Tuberculosis. Garlic is synergistic with Mullein, making the combination even more powerful when these two ingredients are used together.

Fucoidan Herb or its extract not only helps cure Tuberculosis but has been shown to help heal prostate cancer.

Red Clover has shown promise in healing Tuberculosis and also as a powerful anti-cancer agent.

St. John's Wort another Tuberculosis fighter also has powerful depression fighting properties and is used an anti-aging Longevity herb.

Vitamin D - A well known method to help and prevent Tuberculosis
Source: BBC

Other herbs that help fight bad bacterial infections include; Liverwort, Indian Madder, Unibract Fritillary Bulb, and Creosote bush

Another interesting note is that some of these herbs are powerful anti-cancer agents. Dr Johanna Budwig who is a cancer prevention doctor, uses herbs such as Black Walnut Tincture, Cloves, Wormwood, Red Clover and Pau D Arco. These herbs just happen to be powerful fighters of upper respiratory and internal bacterial infections. Dr Johanna Budwig believes that cancer is caused by intestinal parasites that feed off of man made toxins such as isopropyl rubbing alcohol and benzene. Be sure to view the article How to Remove Parasites from the body for more information.

So if we connect the above properties of the herbs above, could proper digestion of food be a powerful cancer preventative? It is interesting to note that many of the foods that take the least amount of time to digest and require the least amount of burden on the digestive system such as berries and watermelon are also some of the most powerful cancer fighting foods and taking these foods more often during the last 3 perigee full moon periods, when the body is most vulnerable to bad bacteria and inflammation would make a powerful cancer and inflammation preventative.

I wanted to share this with those of you wondering how much artificial vitamin C to use (Tablets of ascorbic acid), and how putting the body under mild stress builds up resistance to bad bacteria, which can heal many diseases. My research from performing the Emerald Tablets exercise has proven that during prolonged  condition red periods, my immune system would become depleted if I performed the Emerald Tablets exercise during these times, and because taking Apple Cider vinegar (which kills fungus and negative bacteria) after the exercise powerfully assists the renewal process. So I came across this article at

that shows how cancer and the common cold can be cured when you subject your body to high doses of artificial vitamin C, just below the threshold of contracting diarrhea.  Because inflammation and other stress type symptoms are a form of the body healing itself, than bringing the body just to the brink of a certain threshold causes a reversal of the disease.

So I now know when I do the Emerald Tablets exercise and my immune system feels slightly depleted, I will take larger than normal amounts of Vitamin C, Cod Liver Oil and the Super herb Mix shown on the condition red page.

Also see the paragraph titled "Playing with the Flu" on this page for how this process works.
By being aware of this, I no longer get the flu, meaning even though I can feel the virus in me for the 7 days, my performance is never impaired during this time, and during these 7 days I feel a resistance is building within my immune system, warding off "another future attack" that might occur.

The half-life of Vitamin C in the body is about 30 minutes. That means 30-60 minutes after you take Vitamin C, your body has used up most of it. So an important key to this protocol is to keep your body saturated all day. Dosing every 1-2 hours like I mentioned above is ideal.

Here’s a dosage chart from the late and legendary Dr. Robert Cathcart MD,
who treated 9000+ patients with Vitamin C!

CONDITION              Grams Per 24 Hours   Doses Per 24 Hours
normal                       4 -  15              4 -  6
mild cold                   30 -  60              6 - 10

viral pneumonia            100 - 200+            12 - 25
hay fever, asthma           15 -  50              4 -  8
environmental and
 food allergy              0.5 -  50              4 -  8

anxiety, exercise and
 other mild stresses        15 -  25              4 -  6
cancer                     15 - 100              4 - 15
ankylosing spondylitis      15 - 100              4 - 15
Reiter's syndrome           15 -  60              4 - 10
acute anterior uveitis      30 - 100              4 - 15
rheumatoid arthritis        15 - 100              4 - 15
bacterial infections        30 - 200+            10 - 25
infectious hepatitis        30 - 100              6 - 15
candidiasis                 15 - 200+             6 - 25

Athletic activities like running, weight training, etc. you are likely to have an increased need for Vitamin C and your tolerance will be higher. Even if you are healthy. Dr. Cathcart says that low dose vitamin c had basically no effect, but high dose vitamin c, when taken at 80-90% of bowel tolerance, produced a significant and dramatic reduction of symptoms in his patients.

Another excellent idea to help boost the immune system and ward off the flu is to take a cup of very hot or boiling water and place pieces of Organic Parsley, with their stems included, into the hot water.  Allow to soak for 5 to 7 minutes, than drink the water.  The beautiful rich green water is also one of the best heart tonics, making it great for endurance.  You can mix with beet juice to make a powerful winter endurance tonic. Parsley is also one of the best plants to chelate heavy metals from the body, especially lead.

So in conclusion, knowing when the body is vulnerable to bad bacteria and the right herbs to take, can help keep your immune system in top shape, especially as your body ages. Many of the above herbs can be bought in teas, tinctured extracts or powdered form. Extracts are the most powerful form and give you more bang for the buck and teas are quicker absorbed by the body due to the hit water. The powdered versions are excellent for mixing with other powdered herbs or making synergistic combinations.
