Hidden Dangers in Pharmaceutical Prescriptions

MD directed treatments are now THE LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH IN THE USA

With the now readily available access to large online databases, as well as user forums discussing cures and prevention, the future of pharmaceuticals is now  on a decline.  For the first time in history, man is now using nature to heal and prevent many diseases. Cures of the future will be plants grown with  the cures inside them.  These new bioenginnered plants that will make the medicines for us, rather than requiring a large manufacturing facility to  produce them, will be significantly more safer than prescriptions and far more effective than natural herbs. Prescription drugs happen to be one of  America's leading causes of ill health and death. There is a growing legion of people stopping from taking prescribed medications and healing  themselves naturally by simply changing their diets to fruits and vegetables, reducing stress and staying away from the medical community.  Self  healing without drugs is the next big thing.

Published January 2013 - Nearly 800 children in Europe have developed narcolepsy, an incurable sleep disorder, after being immunized with the Pandemrix H1N1 swine flu vaccine produced by the British drugmaker, GlaxoSmithKline in 2009. Reports of spikes in narcolepsy cases are also surfacing in Finland, Norway, Ireland, France and Sweden.

Lobbying is currently one of the biggest problems.  The pharmaceutical giants spent over 100 million in lobbying activities from 2001 to 2002. Their  tactics involve influencing issues related to prescriptions involving medicare, many of which involve negative side effects and focusing on the short  term solution, rather than long term prevention, leading to unnecessary profits. In an article by Newsweek on October 29th, 2007, it reported that about 68,000 medical students and 800 physicians have grown wary of of being  sold pharmaceuticals with the assurance they are totally safe, only to discover that their side effects drastically affect their patients. Even FDA  approved drugs are causing serious side effects when combined with nutritional supplements.

Dangerous Combinations:
The prescribed medication Warfarin taken with aspirin causes bleeding.
Asprin combined with ginkgo increases bleeding.
The prescribed medication Lisinopril taken with potassium causes abnormal heart rhythms.
Prescribed cholesterol medications taken with niacin causes muscle damage.

Today there is an organization that has started called the "no Free Lunch". It asks medical doctors to take a pledge to longer see/accept drug  company representatives.  So far only 800 out of 800,000 physicians in the U.S.A. have participated.  These doctors refuse free ship cruises,  lunches, drug samples or other incentives that get them to buy from the major pharmaceuticals.

Quote by Dr. Joe Mercola: "One of the major players at Reuters news service is also chairman of GlaxoSmithKline."

Today's doctor has turned a deaf ear to the patient's concerns about drug side effects.  "Learn to live with it" is the most common reaction from  healthcare professionals. Quote from the editor of the New England Journal of Medicine. January 15th, 2009. "It is simply no longer possible to  believe much of the clinical research that is published, or to rely on the judgment of trusted physicians or authoritative guidelines.  I take no  pleasure in this conclusion, which I reached slowly and reluctantly over my two decades as an editor of the New England Journal of Medicine.

Prescription drugs disrupt multiple cellular functions, causing thousands of biochemical changes. If you are taking prescription drugs now, realize  that you now have a choice.  There are literally thousands of alternative herbs and medicines now available with enough user feedback and input  to show how effective they are.  Most importantly use your best judgment and intuition to make wise choices when selecting healing herbs and  remedies.

Results of a new study have shown that at least 2 million elderly americans take a combination of drugs and supplements.  This ranges from blood  thinners and cholesterol pills to asprin and ginkgo capsules.  It is estimated 1 in 10 elderly men are taking these dangerous combinations.

From Timothy McCall. Author of "Examining Your Doctor".
Taking more than one prescription at a time increases the likelihood of an adverse drug reaction (ADR).  In the U.S. ADR's are the leading cause  of illness and account for about 106,000 deaths annually. In a recent study of the Journal of the American Medical Association found that in 1 year  over 2 million hospitalized patients suffered serious drug reactions. It is estimated that only 1 in 20 reactions are ever reported.

Side effects from prescription drugs can sometimes be more deadly than the effects of the disease itself. Reports of adverse drug effects reported  to the FDA more than doubled in the last decade.  This is also due to more elderly people taking more medications, however people 65 and older  account for %12.5 of the total U.S. Population.  They happen to account for %33.6 of the reported side effects.  Children under 18 account for  %7.4 of side effects, probably due to their ability to digest and absorb nutrients better.  Children make up %25.8 of the population.

Allergic Reactions:
Drug morbidity has been estimated to cost more than $136 billion a year in the U.S. alone.  These estimates are higher than the total cost of  treating cardiovascular or diabetes disease.

Quotes about prescription drugs from physicians:
"Many older folks are dismissed as senile, when in fact it is the prescribed drugs causing their memory loss". Dr. Julian Whitacker MD

Quote by Raymend Francis. M.I.T. scientist and leader in optimal health maintenance. " Prescription drugs mask the problem, they suppress the  disease by disrupting normal cellular functions. Abnormal cellular function is at the root of every disease."

Quote from the Wall Street Journal. June 22nd, 2001.
"The average person over 60 years of age is on average of 4 prescribed medications.  Those 65 or older are on an average of 6 or more  medications. For those in nursing homes the average is 8 prescriptions. Some of these are prescribed to suppress the problems caused by taking  the medications. "

The Dangers of Antibiotics:

As prescriptions for antibiotics increase, more and more people with immune based infections are becoming immune to them. This is due to the  body not being able to naturally build up the proper defenses.  The main danger of antibiotics is they destroy healthy microflora in the large intestine  which leads to maldigestion, malnutrition and cellular toxicity.  Excessive antibiotics can cause permanent damage. Many people who are ill are ill  because their body is already overloaded with toxins.  Because technology makes more drugs, the toxicity of people is increasing.

The correct approach is to bring the cells of the body back to normal using the orthomolecular approach, rather than prescribing toxins to suppress  the effects.

Side Effects of Precribed Medications:

The most common physical side effects from prescribed drugs are labored breathing and shortness of breath, especially those taking psychiatry  pharmaceuticals. If we all learned to breathe properly by performing breathing exercises, maybe there would be a lot less need for medication.
A recent review of 48 studies in the UK reveals that adverse reactions to new drugs were 60% more common in women than men.  This occurred  across those over 19 years of age.  Women have reduced blood flow, a higher percentage of fat and differ in their kidney and liver functioning  compared to men.

On average 51% of FDA approved drugs cause serious side effects.  In a report by the Archives of Internal Medicine, 20% of drugs account for  87% of adverse effects, with the biggest offenders being pain killers and drugs that affect the immune system and treat arthritis.  Each year  prescription drugs injure 1.5 million people so severely they need re-hospitialzation.

Quote from Phyllis Greenberger, president of The Society for Womens Health Research. "Women are significantly more likely to suffer from  adverse drug reactions because of their biology and many are on diet supplements, which can interferre with prescribed drugs. Women should  think twice before combining St. Johns Wort and Oral contraceptives or other drugs."

Accidental Deaths from Improperly Prescribed Medications:

Outlined in a report by the Audit Commission in Great Britain.  Quote by Nick Mapstone. "About 1,200 people died in public hospitals in Britain last  year due to being prescribed the wrong drugs. This was 5 times higher than in 1990. The health service is probably spending up to 725 million  dollars per year to make people better who were victims of adverse reactions. In one case at Queens Medical Center in Nottingham, a teenager  who was in remission from cancer was accidently injected with a drug into his spine.  He fell into a coma and died.

Studies have shown that mistakes in drug prescribing, as well as tier side effects, cost at least $76 billion per year in extra medical costs. The  largest factor comes from having to be re-admitted to the hospital from suffering a drug reaction caused by the prescription. Adverse drug  reactions are now the 4th leading cause of death in the U.S. after heart disease, cancer and stroke.

A statistical study of hospital deaths in the U.S. conducted at the University of Toronto revealed that prescription drugs kill more people every year than  are killed in traffic accidents.

List of some of the precribed medications that have been withdrawn due to on average over 100 people dying from using them: Rezulin, Lotronex,  Propulsid, Redux, Pondimin, Duract, Seldane, Hismanal, Posicor, Raxar, Baycol, Viox, Propulsid, Palladone.

Quote from the Sydney Morning Herald, August 4th, 2003.
"Women using prozac and similar anti-depressents during pregnancy and breastfeeding could expose induce withdrawal effects in their babies. Those  using the drug Aropax showed a 22 percent increase of prolonged hospitalization associated with being exposed to the drug."

Antacids are a danger because they inactivate fluoroquinolnes.  Their most common side effect is they block the absorption of nutrients and hinder  digestion, which can lead to indigestion. Some antacids block the proton pumps and histamine H2 receptors in the stomach, causing a lack of  hydrochloric acid (HCL) leading to a lack of proper digestion of foods.

The 11 most dangerous prescribed medications:
Prednisone also called Cortisone is a great poison ivy treatment, however if used long term will cause hypertention, osteoporosis, peptic ulcers,  diabetes, cataracts and intestinal bleeding.

Chemotherapy Drugs
Methotrexate is a poison that not only kills the cancer cells, but the good cells as well.

Cholesterol Reduction
Mevacor, Zocor and Pravachol, also known as satins. Prolonged use causes liver toxicity, muscle inflammation and cataracts.

Blood Thinners
Coumadin, also known as Warfin, are used to prevent strokes and heart attacks. Can cause excessive bleeding, even from a minor cut.

Mood Supressents

The Future:

Every day in the U.S. about 6,000 people turn 65.  By 2020 this will total over 50 million and by 2030 70 million.  In less than 20 years there will be  as many people over 65 years of age as children under 18. Older americans account for 36% of all hospital stays and 49% of all days of hospital  care and over 50% of all physician hours.  Today there are about 9,000 geriatricians which have dropped to 6,000 by 2004 due to retirement.  Because no pharmaceutical company is interested in applying million dollar studies to nutritional herbs, spices and natural methods, the internet is  doing this for them and taking a huge bite out of their revenues. We only expect this trend to continue far into the future.
