Klotho, the Gene that Extends Lifespan and Increases IQ

Exploring the Emma McKinley Healing Miracle

This next discovery I am about to announce is one of the Solar Institute's greatest anti-aging breakthroughs to date (besides our current research on Spanish Moss).  I strongly urge our regular readers to print and save this discovery as it is the result of over a decade of research.

When I first studied gerontology in college (the process of aging) it piked my interest as to what exactly caused the human body to age. During the year 2008 I established the Solar Institute and set out on a journey of understanding the process of aging and seeking methods to reverse the aging process. Now 10 years later, after having written thousands of pages on the subject and more than 4 books on anti-aging, I recently came across what's known as the "klotho" gene, of which I have recently devoted an entire article that goes into fine detail about this gene.

The most fascinating thing about the research on the Klotho gene is that the substances that stimulate it, which cause one to live not only longer but smarter, are the same substances, or extremly close to the same substances I mention in what I call the "Carnosine Mix".  The carnosine mix is a combination of vitamins and herbal extracts I had developed during 2015 from my years of researching anti-aging.  It was perfected in 2017 and I am only now just adding the final finishing touches to it.  I mention how to make this formula in the report titled: Anti-Aging Longevity and Memory Enhancement  Nutraceutical Herbal Combinations.  This report is a general summary of my anti-aging elixirs collected over the years.

The major discovery here is that I had never heard of the klotho gene, let alone substances that activated it until only very recently.  After recently publishing the article Klotho, the Gene that Extends Lifespan and Increases IQ did everything click. Also because the influence of the klotho gene's effect upon the body is through the kidney, which TCM and the Tao state that the kidney is the place in the body that stores "Jing", which is the life essence. Jing can be replentished through QI Gong exercises and the Emerald Tablet Exercise.   I now have final confirmation that my carnosine mix works, not only from the feelings and enhanced mental performance felt the following morning from taking it over the years, but the scientific data shown in the Klotho article confirms the ingredients stimulate the Klotho gene, which in turn extend lifespan.

So in summary, what enhances or stimulates the klotho gene can be used as a map to unlocking the keys to extending lifespan due to substances that stimulate the klotho gene exist in the carnosine mix.

The emerald tablets exercise is a type of QI Gong exercise that was practiced in Ancient Egypt by various priests (Tablet Number 13. The Keys of Life and Death). I go into how I discovered this in my book The Emerald Tablets by Thoth the Atlantean. From my experience of practicing the Emerald Tablets exercise for the last 10 years, I have found that it greatly enhances the strength of the region in the lower back.  This is due to its ability to replentish "Jing" essence in the kidneys. Although the existence of Jing is yet to be proven, the experience of revitalization and feelings of rejuvenation after practicing this exercise are certainly felt.

Summary
If indeed the Emerald Tablets Exercise is strengthening the region in the lower back / kidney region, there should be studies documenting this.  Because the Emerald Tablets Exercise is an exercise similar to Qi Gong all we need to do is look for QI Gong type studies and their effects on kidney function.
A study that was published in November 2014 titled: The Effects of Tai Chi on the Renal and Cardiac Functions of Patients with Chronic Kidney and Cardiovascular Diseases and conducted by Zhi-Min Shi and colleagues found that Tai Chi is beneficial for people suffering from Kidney Disease.  Tai Chi is an exercise that is similar to QI Gong.

This also means that as more anti-aging breakthroughs take place, we may very well see that these substances that extend lifespan, also enhance IQ, which is a positive side effect of stimulating the klotho gene. I also want to mention here that alchemists, who were masters at healing people and extending lifespan probably had higher IQ's from using the red powder, of which only a tiny portion was added to wine and used for healing purposes, which may explain why finding an alchemist to give you the formula is almost impossible, unless you spend years seeking them out.

To give further validation of the carnosine mix formula, I found this published paper which states the following -

In the current study, we conducted a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial using a pill-based nutraceutical (NT-020) that contained a proprietary formulation of blueberry, carnosine, green tea, vitamin D3, and Biovin to evaluate the impact on changes in multiple domains of cognitive functioning (Nutraceutical Intervention Improves Older Adults' Cognitive Functioning. Brent J. Small et al. Feb 2014). What is most interesting about this study, is many of these ingredients are in the carnosine mix, which we shall cover shortly. In simple summary, most of these are substances that are good for the brain's cognitive abilities.

Anyway let us get back on topic.  The carnosine formula utlizes one aspect of alchemy in order to enhance its effectiveness, and that is to take it on a Friday evening. Now you can take the carnosine mix any other day of the week, but taking it on Friday evenings greatly magnifies its power, resulting in a longer lasting feeling of rejuvenation and anti-aging effects.

Why Friday?
This is because in alchemy, if you were to look at a planetary chart, Friday is ruled by the planet Venus and Friday represents the kidneys. Venus also represents the element copper. There are three types of Superoxide Dismutase in the human body.  Two of these contain copper and the third manganese. When the body has high levels of superoxide dismutase, it helps fight aging (The role of manganese superoxide dismutase in skin aging. Nicolai Treiber et al. July 2012).

anti aging alchemy

One other interesting fact, if we look at the chart above, we see that the herb represented by Friday is Lady's Mantle (Alchemilla mollis) which is used to heal topical wounds. It also contains tannins. It is interesting to note that a research paper titled: Flavonoid constituents and free radical scavenging activity of Alchemilla mollis, that was published by Trendafilova A and colleagues in December 2011, found that it exhibited radical scavenging properties as well as act as a primary antioxidant. Also if we take a look at a table of planetary hours, on Friday, the first hour is represented by the planet Venus.

Speaking from personal use of taking the carnosine mix over the years, taking it after a hard physical workout, the following morning I will usually experience extra strength rather than feeling sore and tired. Also another benefit of taking this formula is the mind is clear and sharp the following morning.  This makes perfect sense because stimulating the Klotho gene has been shown to exhibit  neuroprotective properties, allowing the brain to possibly regenerate new neurons and protect it from the effects of aging.

Let's go through the process of using the carnosine mix.

On a late Friday afternoon or after an especially hard workout, take a food that is high in both niacin and melatonin.  For example I use oatmeal seasoned with cinnamon.  This is because oatmeal contains adequate levels of both melatonin and niacin.

After eating the meal, wait a total of 45 minutes to allow the niacin to fully be absorbed into the body.

After 45 minutes have passed, take a food that boosts the body's Superoxide Dismutase levels.  I personally take a hot cup of Roobios Tea (Aspalathus linearis). Physical exercise will also boost your body's Superoxide Dismutase levels (SOD) (Free radical scavenging ability of Aspalathus linearis in two in vitro models of diabetes and cancer. Viduranga Y. Waisundaraa,* and Lee Yian Hoonb. January 2015). However if you are recovering from a workout, a food or herb that does so may work best.

After another 45 minutes have passed, take the carnosine mix. The formula is made up of the following ingredients.

The Carnosine Mix Formula
Add the following extracts to 1 cup of spring water (alkaline)
7 drops of Elderberry Extract (annoycians)
1 teaspoon of Brewer's Yeast (B vitamins)
7 drops of Astragalus Extract
5 drops of Milk Thistle Extract (liver stimulator)
2 drops of Cayenne Pepper Extract (catalyst)
5 drops of Ormus (enhances the absorption of all the aforementioned ingredients)

As you drink the water, take the following capsules:
1,000 mg of carnosine
1 to 2 Vitamin C Capsules
4 Cod Liver Oil Capsules (Vitamin D)
7,000 IU of Vitamin D3
200mg of Grapeseed Extract Capsules
2 to 3 tablespoons of honey

The following morning take foods or supplements that repair the body's Myelin sheaths. Myelin sheaths strengthen the brain's neurons (Pharmacogenetic stimulation of neuronal activity increases myelination in an axon-specific manner. Stanislaw Mitew et al. Jan 2018). I personally take berberine.  Because the above formula stimulates the klotho gene, the body is better able to repair the myelin sheaths, which adds a major boost to the anti-aging properties of the formula.

I have also found that after taking the carnosine formula, when I next eat a meal the following day, the nutrients from the foods I eat is better absorbed. This is a good sign that the formula is re-building important vital functions in the body that relate to the proper utilization of nutrients from healthy foods.

Now for an extra boost, although this method is optional, before drinking the extracts, visualize a golden healing and rejuvenating light filling the cup of water with the extracts in it.  Next after drinking the water, visualize your body in a glowing rejuvenative light bringing your body back to its youth peak state. As you breathe in, imagine breathing in golden rejuvenating healing light.  Next hold your breath for a second and as you do so, smile into your heart and then smile into the cells in your body.  Next visualize this golden rejuvenating light surrounding your body. As you breathe out, visualize toxins, discordant and energies that are not conductive to anti-aging leaving your body, floating away on exhaling air.

It is also interesting to note that 'QI' energy, which is a form of mental concentration, has been shown to speed up the rate at which wheat seeds germinate.  The study found that the mental qi increased the rate of the cellular growth of the seeds and their division hundreds of times. This means the cells produced a great deal of energy within the 20 minute time period. The study further found that the qi caused a large increase of the seed's  ATPase activity in the tips of the buds of germinating wheat seeds. The study also found that because enzymes are the products of genes, that a germination-correlated gene was responsible for breaking through the limits of time and space, thus causing a type of compression of time to take place in the localized region the mental qi was being performed (Seeds induced to germinate rapidly by mentally projected 'qi energy' are apparently genetically altered. Bai F et al. 2000).

Concentrated Mind Power and the Lengthening of Telomerase

It is a well documented scientific fact that longer Telomerase enhances lifespan (Telomeres and longevity. Pat Monaghan. Feb 2012). Meditation is simply a focusing of one's mind while in a relaxed and conscious state.  A research study found that telomerase activity increased in people who practiced mindfulness meditation (A meta-analytic review of the effects of mindfulness meditation on telomerase activity. Schutte NS, Malouff JM. April 2014). In another study conducted in 2011, the study found that experienced meditators showed significantly greater activity of the enzyme telomerase (Intensive meditation training, immune cell telomerase activity, and psychological mediators. Jacobs TL et al. June 2011).

Meditation and Oxidative Stress

A study found that experienced Zen meditators showed diminished levels of oxidative stress caused by a reduction of lipid peroxidation and biophoton emission (Roles of meditation on alleviation of oxidative stress and improvement of antioxidant system.Mahagita C et al. Nov 2010). Another study conducted at Massachusetts General Hospital in partnership with Harvard in 2000, used magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to measure the cortical thickness of the participant's grey and white matter in people who practiced mediation regularly compared to non-meditators. The study found that the average cortical thickness of the people who meditated that were between the ages of 40 and 50 was similar to people who did not meditate or meditated that were between the ages of 20 and 30. The study concluded that practicing meditation between the ages of 40 and 50 may help preserve the structure of the brain from the effects of aging (Meditation experience is associated with increased cortical thickness. Sara W. Lazar et al. Nov 2005).

Meditation's Effects on Inflammation and Genes

Reference

(Rapid changes in histone deacetylases and inflammatory gene expression in expert meditators. Perla Kaliman et al. Feb 2014)

Another study involving 15 experiments measuring epigenetic changes after person's practiced tai chi and MBSR found that the genes that governed inflammation (factor kappa beta, or NF-kB, pathway) showed much less activity after the mind exercises (Functional genomics in the study of mind-body therapies. Niles H et al. Winter 2014)18 more studies also discovered that mind–body type exercises also reduced NF-kB (inflammation) (Mind-body therapies and control of inflammatory biology: A descriptive review. Bower JE and  Irwin MR Jan 2016).

Summary
Certain mind–body exercises have anti-inflammatory effects due to their ability to switch specific genes related to inflammation on and off.  This is a powerful finding, because it conclusively shows that the mind can affect the health of the body.  Although there have been numerous studies showing that negative emotions such as anger and depression over the long term are detrimental to health, few studies, and more are emerging showing that mediation, tai chi and other specific exercises have a healing effect upon the body.
These detailed research studies find that various types of meditation and breathing techniques cause decreases in oxidative stress.  This may be of significant benefit in preventing or alleviating disease (Roles of meditation on alleviation of oxidative stress and improvement of antioxidant system. Mahagita C. Nov 2010).  Also as shown the carnosine mix works best during full moons.  This could be because mental concentration and focus is maximized at full moons.  Evidence of this is in the study that found people win more often at casinos during a full moon.  Whether this is due to the power of expectation or intent remains to be seen.

Summary
It is very likely that the golden healing light rejuvenation exercise is affecting the body's telomeres. This also means one may be able to use various forms of meditation to enhance its effects.

So in summary, when the mind visualizes a golden healing / rejuvenation light into the anti-aging elixir, as well as around the human body, it may be effecting the enzymes that relate to telomeres. Time in the region may also be effected by slowing down, instead of speeding up. During this time, new protections against further aging of-the body may also be created, thus reducing the rate at which the body ages even further.

Could this mean that herbs or substances that affect enzyes help slow the aging process?  Could the process by which this works be due to an effect at the rate of which time flows which in turn helps slow the rate at which the body ages?  I wrote an article some time back titled Do Metals that affect time slow the aging process?. In this article I state that my research on spanish moss found that it contains the rate earth yttrium.  I also show in the article that Mr. Cap Monroe, who lived in Florida, made a tea from Spanish Moss, lived to over 100 years.  It may be that the element yttrium enhances a person's concentration and focus.  What is interesting is cabbage contains the element yttrium and cabbage contains sulforaphane which has been shown to enhance memory and boost mental concentration (Sulforaphane rescues memory dysfunction and synaptic and mitochondrial alterations induced by brain iron accumulation. Lavich IC et al. Aug 2015), (Sulforaphane Improves Cognitive Function Administered Following Traumatic Brain Injury. Pramod K. Dash et al. April 2009),(Sulforaphane alleviates scopolamine-induced memory impairment in mice. Lee S et al. July 2014)

Perhaps a greatly extended life SPAN is a combined result of mental concentration with a specific anti aging formula taken during specific solar / lunar times. This is partly demonstrated from the experiencing of taking the carnosine anti aging formula taken when the sun's 2mev levels are at above average levels and performing anti-aging visualizations such as a laying on of the hands in regions where healing is needed. Specific lunar phases may be the first quarter and full moons when solar wind speeds are at low / favorable levels which is usually between 330 and 350.  Hence many of the best substances that show anti aging potential or that have greatly extended lifespan in the laboratory behave as mere catalysts during anti-aging healing visualization exercises. Heart / mind coherence may also play a major role as we have shown in our heart math exercise performed at the first quarter moon.

There are also certain lunar and solar conditions that enhance the results of the carnosine mix when it is taken. They are -

Full Moons
Perigee Moons
During geomagnetic storms (creates an anti-aging shield against the detrimental effects of geomagnetic storms)
Around the 21st of each month (a time the lunar essence is gathered)
When the sun is at 29 degrees (see my Emma McKinley article for further details)
When the 2mev's are peaking (see my Emma McKinley article for further details)

And as simple as this may sound, it makes perfect sense that if the body simply ages without our even being aware of it, there must exist a simple routine to help reduce its effects.

It is also very interesting to note that the Tao states that the seasons of Spring and Fall are the seasons the revitalizing "QI Energy peaks". During these 2 times of year in my locationin Hawaii the planet Venus  at apporximately 8 p.m. on March  21st (Spring Equinox), Venus is setting on the western horizon. On October 21st (fall equinox) , at 6 p.m. Venus is setting on the western horizon.

An in-depth look at Myelin Sheaths
All nerves in the body are wrapped in a type of sheath.  These are called myelin sheaths.  Specific nutrients that support strong myelin sheaths support the health of the body's nervous system as a whole. Hence it does not matter how many supplements you take to boost your neurotransmitters, if their ability to send messages is hindered they cannot be adequately transmitted if your myelin sheaths are broken down, degraded or worn out.

Nutrients that re-build Myelin Sheaths
DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid). Found in cod liver oil
Omega 3 fatty acids.  These include -
Flax seeds, Walnuts, Kale, Collard Greens and Winter squash. Taking these have Omega 3's, however if you want better absorption of Omega three oils, the following foods have Omega 3's that are better absorbed -
Salmon, Sardines, Cloves, Halibut, Shrimp, Sod, Tuna, Algae-based DHA supplements such as marine phytoplankton.

Other foods for rebuilding neuronal membranes and myelin sheath health are foods with a high oleic acid content.  These include: Olive oil, Almonds, Pecans, Macadamias (and Macadamia oil) and avocados.

Myelin repair is also enhanced by inhibiting the breakdown of acetylcholine. The Chinese herb Polyogalae tenufolia (Yuan zhi) can help. Herbs that contain acetylcholine - Piper nigrum (Hu jiao), hawthorn (Shan zha), European mistletoe (Viscum album), Nettle and kudzu (Ge gen).

Choline and inositol can also help as neural cells need ATP to synthesize acetylcholine (Vitamins B2 riboflavin and B3 inositol hexacotinate)

Vitamins and substances that enhance myelin repair or decrease myelin degeneration include: Vitamins B12, methylcobalamin and B1 thiamine (benfotiamine) and the amino acid histidine.

Studies at Emory University found progesterone exhibits remarkable myelin repair (Progesterone and nestorone promote myelin regeneration in chronic demyelinating lesions of corpus callosum and cerebral cortex. El-Etr M et al. Jan 2015).

Multiple Sclerosis and Myelin Repair
Bruce Trapp of the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute stated that demyelinated tissues create signals that promote and enhance the generation of new neurons in damaged regions of the brain. There is enough evidence to support the idea that new neurons may be able to be re-grown in Multiple Sclerosis lesions.
Hence providing stimulation methods that support the re-growth of neurons in the human brain, including myelin sheaths, may restore some of the damage seen in people who have Multiple Sclerosis.

Although further research is necessary, it may be that water-soluble Vitamin E helps myelin sheath regeneration/protection as a research study found that when Vitamin E was removed, that it caused a partial loss of myelination (Antioxidants are necessary for myelination of dorsal root ganglion neurons, in vitro. Podratz JL et al. Jan 2004). It is also important to remember that because vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin, excess levels can be dangerous (Mechanisms for the prevention of vitamin E excess. Maret G. Traber. Sept 2013).  However I could not find any studies on the danger of large amounts of intake of the water soluble type Vitamin E.

Vitamin E synergizes with lithium. A research study found that lithium carbonate and vitamin E caused considerable decreases in lipid peroxidation and caused increased SOD activity (Use of lithium carbonate and vitamin E in the complex treatment of epileptics. Megrabian AA et al. 1986).

Final Summary Conclusions
Methods, foods and techinques that stimulate Klotho can be used to create substances that strengthen the brain's neurons and perhaps even slow down the aging process.

How Gotu Kola, Meditation, QI Gong, Tai Chi Lengthen Lifespan

As an interesting observation, Mr. Li Ching-Yuen, (born in 1667) was reputed to have lived to 250 years. Mr. Li Ching-Yuen was reported to have consumed a lot of the herb Gotu Kola.

Components of Gotu Kola
Gotu Kola is made up of flavonoids (quercetin and its glycoside, kaempferol, rutin and its glycoside, catechin, apigenin, luteolin, naringenin, astragalin glycoside and free form), phenolic acids (chlorogenic acid and its isomers and derivatives), triterpenic steroids (sitosterol, stigmasterol) and various amino acids. Hence some of these mixed with Gotu Kola show synergy.

Scientific findings of Gotu Kola

Gotu kola is effective in improving cognitive function after stroke (Effectiveness of Gotu Kola Extract 750mg and 1000mg Compared with Folic Acid 3mg in Improving Vascular Cognitive Impairment after Stroke. Kun Marisa Farhana et al. June 2016).

Quote from Study -

"Gotu kola causes rejuvenation of myogenesis and neurogenesis in old mice.  The age of these old mice were equal to that of 80 year old humans. The gotu kola reversed TGF-ß1/pSmad signaling to the lower levels of that found in young mice (Systemic attenuation of the TGF-ß pathway by a single drug simultaneously rejuvenates hippocampal neurogenesis and myogenesis in the same old mammal."

Astragalus has also shown similar age reversing effects similar to that of Gotu Kola (Compound Astragalus and Salvia miltiorrhiza extract inhibits cell invasion by modulating transforming growth factor-beta/Smad in HepG2 cell. Liu X et al. February 2010), (Compound Astragalus and Salvia miltiorrhiza extract inhibits cell proliferation, invasion and collagen synthesis in keloid fibroblasts by mediating transforming growth factor-ß?/?Smad pathway. He S et al.).

Other plants that also show similar effects to inhibiting TGF-ß1/pSmad signaling include:
Turmeric rhizome, Dan shen root (Salvia miltiorrhiza) and Sarsaparilla root.

A popular combination used as a tea combines ginger, fennel, sarsaparilla root, peppercorn (to enhance the absorption of the curcumin in the turmeric), turmeric and  nettle. Combinations of this show high satisfcation among users of this tea combination.

Gotu kola is also effective in improving the healing of open wounds. (Centella asiatica in cosmetology. Wieslawa Bylka et al. Feb 2013), (Pharmacological Review on Centella asiatica: A Potential Herbal Cure-all. Kashmira J. Gohi et al. Sept 2010).It is also interesting to note that the leaves of Gotu Kola are shaped like human kidneys. Gotu Kola is also known as Pennywort with its Latin name being Centella Asiatica. English names include: Pennywort, Asiatic Pennywort and Indian Pennywort. It is a superior herb for the nervous system, and Ayurvedic medicine has named it “brahmi”, which means“godlike”.  This is due to its anti-aging properties and as an aid to meditation.

Folk Remedies of Gotu Kola
Gotu Kola is said to have a marked energizing effect on the cells of the brain and said to preserve the brain indefinitely. Its action is not as a stimulant, but as nutrition for the brain. A few fresh powered leaves added to goat or cow’s milk is used for mental strength and improving memory. Raw leaves, when ate, strengthen and revitalize worn out bodies and brains considerably. Prevents brain fog and nervous breakdowns. Said to cure leprosy cure and be good for hepatitis.
Gotu Kola has been used as a treatment for depression (Synergistic combinations of five single drugs from Centellaasiatica for neuronal differentiation. Lin J et al. Jan 2017).
Gotu Kola is also used as a blood purifier, for treating high blood pressure, for memory enhancement and for promoting longevity (Pharmacological Review on Centellaasiatica: A Potential Herbal Cure-all. Kashmira J. Gohil, et al. Oct 2010). It is interesting to note that the kidneys filter the blood, acting as a blood purification system for the body. Also chlorophyll, which is a type of green algae also helps detox the blood.

Gotu Kola's Effects on the Kidneys

Gotu Kola has been shown to dramatically improve kidney function and when combined with naringenin (found in grapefruit) decreased fibrosis formation in the kidneys (The Kidney Dysfunction Epidemic, Part 2: Intervention. Joseph Pizzorno. March 2016).

GABAA Receptors
GABA is an amino acid that regulates the relaxation of the brain and muscles and is a neurotransmitter found throughout the human nervous system.

A study found that the Asiatic acid in Gotu Kola improved GABAA receptors making it an important compound for the enhancement of memory and cognition (An Investigation of the Differential Effects of Ursane Triterpenoids from Centella asiatica, and Their Semisynthetic Analogues, on GABAA Receptors. Hamid K et al. May 2016). A study looking at a large number of plant extracts and their effects on GABA metabolism found that an extract of lemon balm showed the greatest inhibition of GABA-T activity. The study also found that gotu kola and valerian stimulated GAD activity by over 40% when taken at a dose of 1 mg/mL.  German Chamomile and Hops showed significant inhibition of GAD activity. (Effects of traditionally used anxiolytic botanicals on enzymes of the gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) system. Awad R et al.  Sept 2007)

Linalool
Lemon Balm contains a large amount of the substance Linalool, which has a calming effect upon the body (THE ESSENTIAL OIL OF LEMON BALM (Melissa officinalis L.), ITS COMPONENTS AND USING FIELDS. Reyhan Bahtiyarca Bagdat. January 2006). It may be that Linalool synergizes with Gotu Kola.
Lavendar also contains an abundance of Linalool (Lavender and the Nervous System. Peir Hossein et al. March 2013)

Lavendar and Gotu Kola
There happen to be a number of products using this combination for healthy, glowing skin. Hence, this may mean that Linalool affects GABA activity, which has been confirmed in a study (Metabolic Products of Linalool and Modulation of GABAA Receptors. Sinem Milanos et al. June 2017).

Gotu Kola Synergy
By creating synergy, less of the herb can be used and in some cases, the effects can become more widespread, allowing  for greater healing effects.Gotu Kola may also synergize with the following - Anti-inflammatories, Anti-anxiety drugs, Diuretics and Hormonal agents. Research shows gotu kola has anxiolytic properties. Hence gotu kola may show synergy when taken in combination with anxiolytics.

Gotu Kola and Naringenin
Gotu Kola has shown synergy with naringenin, which is a substance found in high concentrations in grapefruit (The Kidney Dysfunction Epidemic, Part 2: Intervention. Joseph Pizzorno, ND, Editor in Chief. March 2016).

Asiatic acid and Madecassic Acid
A study found that the combination of extracts of asiatic acid and madecassic acid, which are found in high concentrations in Gotu Kola, showed synergy, making the combination a potential treatment for neurodegenerative diseases (Identification of Centella asiatica's Effective Ingredients for Inducing the Neuronal Differentiation. Jiang H et al. June 2016).

A commercial topical ointment combines the anti-inflammatory agent Madecassol combined with Gotu-Kola and is used to heal scars.  And Asaticoside a component found in Gotu Kola has been used to heal / treat burns (Burn wound healing properties of asiaticoside and madecassoside. Qiang Hou et al. June 2016). A scientific study found that Madecassol showed significant protection of radiation in studies performed on rats (The effect of tetrandrine and extracts of Centella asiatica on acute radiation dermatitis in rats. Chen YJ et al. July 1999). The study also found that tetrandrine was effective in protecting the rats from the radiation.  Tetrandrine  has been isolated from the herb Stephania tetrandra (stephania root or 'han fang ji)', which is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis (Pharmacology of tetrandrine and its therapeutic use in digestive diseases. Ding-Guo Li et al. Oct 2001) A recent scientific study found that the plant Stephania tetrandra inhibited the infection of human white blood cells in petri dish experiments.  This is a major discovery because white blood cells are one of the core components of the human immune system.  This makes it a powerful way to protect the body against unwanted viruses. (Two pore channels control Ebolavirus host cell entry and are drug targets for disease treatment. Yasuteru Sakurai et al. Feb 2015). Stephaniae tetrandrae is harvested during the fall season (Stephania tetrandra S. Moore. Weici Tang and Gerhard Eisenbrand. 1992)
